Day 9: Finishing Up

It's done. Almost. The gameplay is done, the world is done, the cutscenes are done, the main menu is done, the soundtrack is done, the visual effects are done. The only thing left is a handful of sound effects and packaging the game. It will go live tonight.

I'm happy with what I achieved in 9 days - actually only 6 due to the days I skipped - despite the final result lacking some optimization and decoration. Given my prior experience, this project was a bit overambitious and I definitely neglected the "more casual competition with the main goal of being fun and to reduce crunch" part of the Chill Jam. It was fun, but not as chill for me as I had hoped. I don't remember the last time I pulled so many all-nighters (I'm getting old), on the other hand I usually feel more tired than I have in recent days.

No sneak peek today (my first devlog written during the day!) because the full game will be published soon, including screenshots of the final build and so forth. Is it actually a "full game"? What do people usually do after game jams? Do they continue working on the project or "what's done is done" and they jump to the next challenge? Hell, if you end up playing my game, please let me know your opinion. I might revise and expand. But for now I'm exhausted and need to focus on more important things.

Looking forward to checking out the other submissions, but work before pleasure.
